Ted thoughts. Sunday was a travel day across Arizona, and we stopped in Gallup, NM, 410 miles from the start of our day in Boulder, NV. It was a great day driving, allowing us to get closerr to our next destination, Santa Fe, NM. (Why? Just because we like Santa Fe, the spirit of this place, and its yummy red and green sauces.) But it was so cold on that Gallup, NM, Monday morning: 24 degrees. I was thankful for a heater and hot water in the trailer.
It’s often windy in the desert, and I find it energizing. In the ancient languages, the same word (ruah/pneuma) is used to mean three things – wind, spirit, and breath. It makes sense to me. I feel the spirit in the wind. Last night the wind was 14 mph, with gusts up to 24. Several times those gusty winds woke me up, and I could sense the spirit blowing across the land. As long as we have breath, we still have our spirit in these flesh and bones. So yes, wind, spirit, and breath are tied together.
On Tuesday we woke up in Santa Fe, so today is another bike riding day. It will be a windy biking day. But we have reservations to eat at ‘The Shed’ in Santa Fe, so let me experience the desert, the wind, and that sound of pedals and gears of a bicycle taking me to new places. I love it.
