Today Ted celebrated his birthday by driving on the other side of the road all day! He really did a great job of it, especially considering that we have a car with a standard transmission. We rented the car in Dublin and drove south to the picturesque town of Kinsale.

My, oh my, do they have a pretty harbour! Especially at sunset!

We are staying in a B&B called The Old Presybytery, a lovely house where the catholic priest lived until they built a new one. The owners are marvelous and have made it very comfortable. It is only one block from the commercial district which makes for an easy walk to Max’s for dinner. The food and produce at Max’s were grown locally and were a delight to the eye and palate.

On our road trip to Kinsale, we stopped in Waterford to take the tour of the famous Waterford Crystal factory. It was fascinating to walk through the rooms and see the workers just a few feet away from us heating, molding, smoothing, and cutting the actual objects to be sold. It takes five years of training before they can take the test to enter the program to become a ‘Master’ and if they pass the test, the Master program then takes three more years of training. Beautiful craftsmanship! Here is a pic of the tools used for the final, most detailed etching on the crystal.

It was a great day and much more relaxing than being in the city. Although we are on the other side of the world from most of you we think of you often, and carry each of you in our hearts!
