Today we saw the Cliffs of Moher – beautiful sheer cliffs of shale rock, that drop hundreds of feet straight down to the ocean. They are next to the Burren, which means a rocky, barren place. These cliffs have survived the attack of ocean waves for thousands of years.

To get the real perspective of size, look at how tiny the people appear as they walk on top of the cliffs in the background of this photo. The castle at the end of the cliff is three stories tall! See the ship in the water behind Ted… It holds over 30 people, sightseeing on it’s deck. We are sitting about six feet away from the drop off point.

These cliffs go on and on for miles.

Last night we stayed in Doolin, a small town near the Cliffs, and tonight we are staying at a B&B in Galway. On the way to Galway we passed a cemetery and Sue found a good shot of several old Celtic cross headstones.

We are enchanted by the beautiful and joyful traditional music of Ireland. The music in Dublin, Kenmare, and Doolin has been fantastic and this group tonight in Galway continued to set a high bar and provided top drawer music.

It is hot in Ireland. Every day we’ve been here it has been stunningly beautiful, and increasingly warmer… we came to Ireland thinking we’d get a sweater, but all we got was sweatier and sweatier every day! Ted has a slight sunburn on his right arm from being outside the window using our drives! Locals say it has been decades since they’ve had this many days of sunshine in a row. We are so fortunate to be here now
