We drove 12 hours today, leaving the delightful area named – Pray, Montana – and arrived in Casper,WY, just as the KOA closed, and just before the evening rain and wind kicked up. Our trek was 400 miles on slow roads though the loveliest of country: the first National Park – Yellowstone – and also Grand Teton (We learned in Ken Burns’ National Park series that Yosemite was named first, but given temporarily to the state of California to manage – as the concept of National Parks had not yet been established.) We have visited both several times before, so just to drive through them both was enough! Following the Yellowstone river, we entered the park via the north entrance. Driving past the yellow rock with stinking sulphur, we remembered this trip with our kids when they were young, and could visualize them on the wooden walkways meandering through the various vista points. We made a stop in the Old Faithful visitor’s center and gift shop, then drove on down the Rockefeller Memorial Parkway to Grand Teton with a mandatory stop in the visitor center and a nice lunch in the restaurant. We were now about half way on our trip to Casper, so off we went down highway 26… all the way to Casper five and a half hours later. Please enjoy these picks of Yellowstone and Grand Teton that Sue took today. ; ) A special shout-out today to our son, Chris, on his birthday, and to John, at the Giants game who cheered on their 7-1 win. On this day, Chris went to Yosemite to camp and do his annual hike to the top of Half Dome. So on this one day, the Larson family was represented in Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Yosemite and AT&T Park. Blessings on all of you, and thanks for following our blog.

What a wonderful picture and word sharing of your adventures! Thank you!
