Our five-day bicycle trip on the Otago Central Rail Trail has been everything we hoped it would be, and so much more. Today was the easiest day so far, as the trail was mostly flat or downhill with just a few uphill stretches, and now we are relaxing at a B&B, a little bit north of the half-way point between Queenstown and Dunedin.
Here’s our view from this country farm. And for those of you who want to look up the GPS coordinates, use this: 45.205169,170.245458 (We are not anywhere near the fires burning in the hills above Christchurch.)
We biked over several bridges and had one more tunnel today, and made it to Hyde. Our B&B host picked us up, and took us to their farm where we are spending the night.

This part of the trail had no towns, taverns, or food along the way, so we had to pack a lunch sandwich from our starting point and the cafe put our salmon and our beef wraps in a container with some ice, so lunch was perfect, overlooking the river below.
We’re actually feeling a little sad that this bike trip is coming to an end tomorrow. It’s about 35 kilometers to our destination in Middlemarch, where we will turn in our bikes
Here’s a video of this cycle trip of days three and four:
