We completed day two of cycling the Otago Central Rail Trail today, and the best news is that it didn’t rain on us!  The weather said it would, and truthfully we expected to get drenched all the live long day.

‘We rode over five hours, from 9 am to 2:30 pm with some breaks, and now as we sit in the comfort of The Inverlair Lodge in Oturehua, we watch the clouds, strong winds, and distant rain with a smile. Actually, Ted just finished doing the laundry and is watching the clothes on the drying line fly in the wind!

The trail today was very muddy, as it rained most of last night in addition to the day before. That’s Sue on the trail in the distance.

The scenery was spectacular today.  Two very large impressive bridges, one gorge, and two long dark tunnels.

Here are a video and a few pics to show you some of what it is like to ride the Otago Central Rail Trail.  Enjoy!
