Chiseled from a block of marble that was rejected by other sculpters, his interpretation of David captured both David’s confidence and poise. It became one of the greatest sculptures of all time. It was breathtaking to see it in person. You think you’re prepared to see it, then round the corner and see a masterpiece. The walk up to it is surrounded by unfinished sculptures that provide the context to how one goes about chiseling marble. Awesome.
