Opera House

We continue to thoroughly enjoy wonderful Sydney, including exploring the Sydney Opera House, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ted clowned around, as you can see him at the bottom of the roof in this pic. (Click on any image to see a larger size.)

Sue took the Sydney Opera House tour while Ted had a ‘Tall Black’ coffee. Sue said that it was great to learn more about this impressive structure which is a testament to ingenuity, creativity, and perseverance.

Top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Our climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge was out of this world! The whole experience took over three hours which involved a half hour orientation and training period learning more about the mandatory gear that included a belt with a harness to keep you and all items you take from falling. After lessons on how to climb stairs with a harness, we headed up to the bridge for the experience of a lifetime.

Fremont Union High School District Students

It was wonderful to visit with Pragya, a Fremont High School Class of 2006 alum and her husband, Deepak (a Monta Vista High School grad) as our traveling paths just happened to intersect in Sydney! So after our bridge climb, we had a wonderful dinner together near the wharf at Circular Quay. It turns out Deepak was in the Vanguard Drum Corp and he was exited to hear that Ted was a charter member! We enjoyed a pizza dinner and talking about our experiences traveling.

Lauren and The Taronga Zoo

Today, on day four of our trip, we took a ferry across the bay to the famous Taronga Zoo and met with the daughter of our next door neighbors who is working on her Ph.D., found the love of her life, got married, and now works at the zoo writing curriculum for students training here. It was wonderful to see Lauren on the other side of the world!
