We are now staying for 3 nights in Arles at the Hotel Le Calendal.  Everyone here has a Rick Steves’ book!  But it’s a great place to stay.  (By the way, we have ripped apart his book so that we only carry of section of it at a time… so I am now calling him Rip Steves! 😉   As I type this, I am 75 steps from the Roman Colliseum, pictured here, that was built 2,000 years ago.  Arles was one of the big stops for the Romans as their empire expanded.  We ate at a great restaurant last night and have been “‘wowed” at the quality of food, and its presentation, everywhere we go in France.  This afternoon is a relaxing day for us.  After touring the colliseum and taking-in a scenic drive to see the wetlands between here and the sea, we relaxed in cafes to read books and sip local wine –  Rose is big here – with amazing taste.
