It's been a great trip and we just finished our last day in Rome. We started the day visiting the Borghese Gallery and found it to be our favorite art gallery of all we visited. We were even the first people to walk into the 2nd floor painting gallery immediately when it opened. We absolutely loved the paintings by Raphael, Botticelli, Caravaggio and more, the Bernini sculptures, the Roman art… We then visited a small Franciscan church – the Cappuccin Crypt – where the bones of 4,000 friars who died here from 1500 to 1800 have been put on display in about six different crypt rooms, artistically displayed by bone type. The quote at the end stated: "We were what you are, you will become what we are now". A healthy reminder amidst the glory of Rome-past and the faith required to live into God's future. With one last visit to the Trevi fountain, a good Italian dinner, and a last gelato,
we are now packing to leave. Arrivederci Italia, and, au revoir France.
