We made it to Queenstown (form Nelson via Christchurch) via Air New Zealand, at 3 pm today. This beautiful city is located on the south and west side of the big southern Island. Everything south of here are the fjords! Our AirB&B faces south, overlooking the Franklin arm of Lake Wakatipu, and is about 3 km from downtown. This is a view from our balcony:
The tall twin peaks on the left are park of the Remarkables Range, one of the few mountain ranges that line up exactly north and south. It’s quite windy this afternoon, there are whitecaps on the lake, and the temperature is brisk if you are not in the sunlight.
We drove into downtown to have our lunch/dinner combo meal at Fergburger, a most famous burger place, and they were worth the wait in line. We have several good days planned here!
Thanks for following our blog, and blessings on you.
Ted and Sue
